This song is the introductory song of a musical ("Refugees from the Otherworld") that I wrote over the summer/fall of 2019 after watching Hamilton live in (of all places) Oklahoma. It is nothing at all like Hamilton though. I don't think I'll be posting more of this musical until it's all done, since it would be painful to do that. But this intro song is self-contained so, voilà!

A hundred years ago, the xenos started coming through
checkpoints in woodlands at the outskirts of our planet's cities,
dropped down from nowhere: fairies, vampires, and chimeras too.
These refugees had come to seek asylum and our pity.
